Fabio Quartararo contacts other factories for a ‘potential move’ in 2023 following Yamaha’s catastrophic start

Fabio Quartararo

Fabio Quartararo has proved himself at the very top as he won his first ever world championship at the age of 22. The Frenchman showed that he just didn’t have the talent but he can also deal with the pressure of competing with the very best. Nobody had question marks about the talent that he possessed but if that could be replicated into race winning performances was definitely doubtful.

The 22 year old was rampant throughout the length of the season and registered a grand total of 278 points in the process. But it already looks like a distant memory for the reigning world champion as he has had a catastrophic start to the new season. This has already given way to speculations of him negotiating with other teams at the end of the season as he has been nowhere close to his best.

Fabio Quartararo felt like he was a lifetime away behind the Qatar Grand Prix winner, Enea Bastianini, finishing ninth. The gap between the leader and Fabio was more than 10 seconds which was pretty uncharacteristic of him. But it seems that he couldn’t do anymore than what he did in that Grand Prix. The fault seems to be with the bike and Yamaha needs to find the answers sooner rather than later if they want to keep hold of their star man.

Fabio Quartararo’s manager recently said, “We’re in talks with rival factories over a potential move away from Yamaha at the end of the season.

“No update. We are checking all the parameters let’s say. We just need to know where Fabio can achieve the best results possible is where we are at, at this stage.”

“[There is] no rush, and then I can imagine there is no rush for Yamaha so we are investigating everything and then we’ll see what happens. [It’s] not a question of offers, we are in talks. We are trying to best understand what the best for Fabio could be.” As reported by motogp.

Fabio Quartararo is one of the hottest properties in Motogp right now and any team would jump on the first opportunity to hire him. Let’s hope Yamaha can find the answers soon or it might be too late for them.
