Aleix Espargaro’s performances have been very impressive coming into 2022 which is by far proving to be his best season yet. The Aprilia rider also grabbed his maiden win back in Argentina during the month of April. After his win on Argentinian soil, Aleix Espargaro has gone on to score four more podiums and only failed to finish in the top 5 twice in the first half of the season.
With the highs, there also come the lows. When in Barcelona, the Spaniard thought that the race was over and started celebrating prematurely when there was actually another lap left and ended up losing a podium place at his home race. Fast forward to Assen when he was pushed back down the field because of his contact with Fabio Quartraro who made a lunge at the Spaniard and couldn’t make it stick. Aleix was pushed to the back of the grid but made an impressive comeback to finish in 4th place by overtaking two riders on the last corner of the last lap in a nail biting finish.
“Sincerely, I’m very tired. I’m super, super exhausted” : Aleix Espargaro
“Sincerely, I’m very tired. I’m super, super exhausted, I need rest. Not five weeks, but especially mentally this year for me it’s completely different to other years, which I suppose is normal, I’m fighting for the title. But I was in the motorhome watching a film with my son and I was very tired,” said the rider.
“I went to sleep at 9pm, so I really need rest for my mind to disconnect. Now I’m happy because I said I wanted to go on holiday with less than one race and I have 21 points. So, I will keep pushing Fabio,” he continued.
Aleix Espargaro has his future secured with Aprilia till 202 which is a relief as it reduces the stress incurred by a rider and helps him focus more on the racing.
