“I made a mistake,” Aleix Espargaro apologises for blaming Marc Marquez for Jerez incident
Marc Marquez with Aleix Espargaro
Free Practice 2 was going normally during the Jerez round earlier this year until Aleix Espargaro had Marc Marquez boiling the Aprilia rider’s blood. The Aprilia rider was caught on camera riding on the pit straight throwing gestures at Marc Marquez which seemed amusing as there was no incident caught on screen.
Aleix Espargaro later elaborated that the Spaniard had allegedly stopped his bike on track and waited for a good minute until Espargaro came so that he could cling to his back and end up getting a slipstream to further improve his lap time which the latter did not like as he ended Free Practice in 13th place. Despite being harsh with his words, it wasn’t long when the rider finally apologised to the multiple world champion a few days later.

“It was a mistake. I did many times in the past more than him,” Aleix Espargaro on Marc Marquez’s actions
“When I blamed Marquez for what he did [in their Jerez row earlier this year], it was a mistake. I did many times in the past more than him, 10,000 times more than him, but at that right moment, at that time, I feel that I had to say that, and I say it. I’m not afraid to make mistakes and then to say, ‘I’m sorry, I made a mistake’, because this is part of life.” he said.
Aleix Espargaro further tells the media that he isn’t afraid to admit when he is wrong and apologise. With Marc Marquez forced to sit out this season, Aleix Espargaro is ever ready to fight for the title and his probability of winning is pretty good considering the campaign that he is having so far with Aprilia. He will arrive at Silverstone post summer break with a 21 point gap between him and title rival Fabio Quartararo and let’s not forget that Quartararo will be serving a long lap penalty for his incident with the Aprilia rider in the last race.
