Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi are amongst the greatest riders to race in the premier class of MotoGP with both of them winning multiple titles and asserting their dominance in their era’s. Rossi and Marquez both knew each other way before #93 came to MotoGP and had even developed a friendship although it all went up in flames after the 2015 Sepang MotoGP round which changed the course of a championship and a friendship.
Valentino Rossi had come to the conclusion that his 2015 title defeat was Marc Marquez’s fault and that his actions prevented The Doctor from clinching his 8th title in the premier class of MotoGP and his 10th title overall. In the Sepang Press conference, Rossi said that he thought that his teammate Jorge Lorenzo was being aided by Marc Marquez with the aim to beat the Italian. This caused massive distress among the two drivers in the press conference which showed during the race where a Honda rider went round the outside of Valentino Rossi in an attempt to pass him which did not happen.
Instead, Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez had touched where it seemed like the the Italian rider kicked #93 which in turn caused him to crash. This was a massive violation which the stewards deemed wrong and the then Yamaha rider was placed at the back of the grid in the final race in Valencia where Rossi lost the title by 5 points. Since 2015, Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi have had a tough time getting along and going back to their previous relationship where Valentino Rossi has said that he is yet to forgive Marc Marquez for what happened in 2015.
Who is the better rider between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez?
With both the riders being unbelievably talented, it becomes a hard choice to choose one of them. When it comes to measuring success, results matter. While both the riders have had a great bag of trophies, it all comes down to longevity.
Basically Valentino Rossi has been in the sport for much longer than Marc Marquez with the Italian being the only rider to compete in 400 or more Grand Prix’s. Valentino Rossi has 9 world titles and 115 race victories under his belt while Marc Marquez has 6 world titles and 61 race victories under his belt. On these stats alone, I think that The Doctor is the better rider among the pair.
