Chicho Lorenzo impressed by Fabio Quartararo’s performances this year : “It’s a pleasure to watch him ride”
Fabio Quartararo
It is clear that the Yamaha hasn’t been the best bike in MotoGP lately with their major top speed issues. Yet, Fabio Quartararo has shown immense skills while in his attempts to hold on to his MotoGP title with the Yamaha MotoGP rider still leading the World Championship with Espargao behind him with a gap of 21 points between them. The reigning world champion’s performances over the 2022 season have impressed Chicho Lorenzo.

“I see him as a very smooth rider” : Chicho Lorenzo on Fabio Quartararo
‘I see him as a very smooth rider. Two years ago you still saw some small jerky movements that were still there, which means he still didn’t get that fluidity, that elegant, fluid and effective riding. Step by step, last year he already said he had taken a step forward in his riding and this year he is riding in a fluid, elegant, effective way. It’s pure butter.’
Chicho Lorenzo admits that it is stunning to see Quartararo ride as he continued, : “Being a more physical bike, when you see him riding it doesn’t look like it. So, the level of tuning he has found with the bike. It’s hallucinating to watch, it’s a pleasure to watch him ride – especially how he passes where the important thing is: the important thing is from stopping accelerating to accelerating again, that’s 95 per cent of this sport, that’s where the differences are made. And how he inserts the bike into the corner, turns it and gets to this extreme stance in a fluid, elegant way, it’s a treat for the eye.”
With MotoGP action resuming in the month of August, it will be exciting to see Fabio Quartararo’s efforts to defend his title. He will be serving a long lap penalty in the Silverstone GP due to his incident with Aleix Espargaro during the DutchGP.
