Fabio Quartararo awarded with the highest French honorary decoration on 14th July amidst Bastille day celebrations

Fabio Quartararo
Bastille day was a day full of celebrations in France. Even more so for Fabio Quartararo with the Yamaha MotoGP rider being the first motorcycle racer to earn this honour. Due to this, his championship title charge won’t be the only memorable thing to happen this year for the French rider.
The National Order of the Legion of Honour, formerly the Royal Order of the Legion of Honour, is the highest French order of merit, both military and civil. It was established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. It is the highest honorary decoration in France. After winning the title and becoming France’s first MotoGP World Champion last year, Fabio Quartararo also became the first motorcycle racer to earn this honour. Aged 23 years now, the Yamaha MotoGP rider has carried his championship winning form into 2022 and currently leads the championship by 21 points behind Aleix Espargaro who has impressed a lot this season and is on a charge to give the reigning world champion a run for his money with both the riders solely focused in bringing the title home.

“It is recognition at the highest performance level of our world champion,” Sébastien Poirier on Fabio Quartararo

“This is a date to be marked with a milestone, the echoes of this distinction will resonate forever within the national sporting landscape, it is recognition at the highest performance level of our world champion by the Nation.”
This is what the President of the French Motorcycling Federation, Sébastien Poirier had to say about Fabio Quartararo who has now become France’s most successful motorcycle racer. The Yamaha rider is yet to address this achievement over social media and we’re pretty stoked to hear what he has to say about this massive accomplishment. Fabio will come to the SilverstoneGP full of joy and also filled with motivation as he will be serving a long lap penalty due to an incident which happened last time out in the DutchGP.
