The 2022 MotoGP season had gone very differently for Fabio Quartararo compared to his current season. Following the Dutch GP that took place at the end of last month, MotoGP has entered into their 6 week summer break. During this time last year, Fabio was a strong contender for the rider’s world championship. However, ever since then, things have just gone downhill for the troubled Frenchman.
Last year, Fabio Quartararo went into the break with three wins and six podiums. This year however, the Yamaha rider sits in ninth place in the rider’s world standings. Yamaha’s condition has gotten worse during this period as they were second in the constructors standings in 2022. This season, they are currently sitting in fifth position. It has been a tough journey for both Fabio and Yamaha so far as Pecco Bagnaia leads the championship comfortably.
Ducati dominated the second half of 2022 with Pecco Bagnaia and the same seems to be happening this year with Marco Bezzecchi also proving to be in contention for the title. In the eight races that have taken place so far this season, Fabio Quartararo’s best achievement is probably the podium finish that he got during the sprint race in Assen. Apart from that, it’s been a rocky ride for Fabio and it doesn’t seem like anything is going to change.

Fabio Quartararo finds it hard to deal with the massive change in results and performance
In an interview, here is what he said. “It’s difficult because one year ago I won here [at Sachsenring] and now I am not even in the top 10,” Quartararo said at the German Grand Prix. “So it’s tough to really enjoy, but I have to try to stay calm, try to figure out what we can improve. But we are already almost halfway through the season, and we don’t find anything yet,” the Yamaha rider continued.
Fabio Quartararo had finished the Sprint and the Main German GP in 13th place which wasn’t an ideal result for someone who is used to fighting at the top. Quartararo will mostly need surgery on his foot following his crash in Assen. However, he won’t have to worry about missing any races as there is a six week break now. In that break, the rider will have ample time to recover should there be a surgery.
