‘Fabio Quartararo making it onto the MotoGP Hall of fame, Marc Marquez’s influence on today’s young guns’ : Danilo Petrucci
Fabio Quartararo, Marc Marquez and Danilo Petrucci
That is what Fabio Quartararo’s former rival, Danilo Petrucci had to say. Petrucci’s career in MotoGP began in the 2012 season. It was young gun Marc Marquez who blew up the competition the following season with his entry into the premier class of MotoGP where the Repsol Honda rider won 6 MotoGP titles in the next seven years where he only failed to win the title in 2015 which turned out to be a controversial but spicy season. #93’s title winning streak after 2015 was brought to a storming end after he fractured his right arm along with the resulting complications that arose in Jerez during the 2020 MotoGP season.
There is a ton of evidence stating that Fabio Quartararo is going to be the next Hall of Famer in the coveted list of all the great world champions who have raced in this sport. ‘El Diablo’ is the only Yamaha Rider to have won a race for the factory team since Qatar 2020 and is currently leading the championship standings with three wins and 6 podiums to his name while his teammate only managed a best finish of 7th. This shows the level of dominance that the reigning world champion has on his teammates.

“I think he will become one of the best champions in MotoGP” : Danilo Petrucci on Fabio Quartararo
“Fabio is a really, really nice guy and I think he is showing especially this year that he is the only one that can ride the Yamaha in this way, winning all these races, despite having such a big [top speed] gap on the straights,” says Petrucci
“Because if you see also the Mugello race he was really fast in the corners but was missing a lot on the straight, but he’s still leading the championship and is always there.
“I think he will become one of the best champions in MotoGP, like Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo, Marquez – and also Pedrosa, who never won a championship but deserved one for all the races he won . “I think Fabio will win a lot.” he continued.
With Marc Marquez, it’s a tacky case as he hasn’t been able to complete a full season of MotoGP since he won the title back in 2019. In 2022, Marc Marquez was forced to sit out the season due to a fourth surgery and the recovery process that would follow. Although he has had a much deeper impact on the young guns of today who have seemed to have been inspired by Marc’s riding style.
“If you see their riding style it’s much more similar to Marquez than the riders from 10 years ago.” says Danilo Petrucci
“I think now there are some riders that have Marquez as a ‘target’ for how to ride. Martin is riding really similar, Bastianini is riding really similar to what Marquez was doing,” Petrucci said.
“If you see their riding style it’s much more similar to Marquez than the riders from 10 years ago.
“For example Espargaro’s style is way different compared to Quartararo and Martin, who are just moving on the bike really differently and they’re really, really fast in the change of direction.
“It’s really nice to watch and I think they are the future of MotoGP.” says Danilo Petrucci
Danilo Petrucci left MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season after an unsuccessful stint with Tech3 Ktm.
