Francesco Bagnaia is currently fighting for the MotoGP championship being placed 4th in the standings. The Italian rider had a different opinion compared to the crowd when it came to overtaking in MotoGP. Riders including Eight time World Champion Marc Marquez have been against the aerodynamic innovations introduced this season which include the winglets or the ride height devices placed on the bike. Due to these aero features, the downforce of the bike seems to be reduced which makes it even harder to follow the rider in front of you. Along with these problems, the front tyre temperatures while following another bike have become an issue amongst the riders.

‘If you are faster you have no problems, if you have the potential you can overcome it.” : Francesco Bagnaia

“I don’t think so and Fabio also agrees with me. In the races where I had to recover, I did it and overtook. Sure, the aerodynamics create more turbulence and it must also be said that we always go to the limit, so in this situation it is very easy to go wide and make mistakes” he said.

“At the same time, if you are faster you have no problems, as demonstrated by Rins who started last in Portimao and finished fourth, or myself who started last and finished eighth, or at Mugello that after the start I finished ninth and won. In short, if you have the potential you can overcome it” he continued.

Francesco Bagnaia will be more than eager to get back to racing once the MotoGP summer break ends and the racing resumes in the month of August for the Silverstone Grand Prix where the Ducati Factory rider will aim to maximise his performance and cut down on Championship leader Fabio Quartaro’s points gap.
