Johann Zarco
Johann Zarco is currently third in the MotoGP world championship standings with Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargaro being the ones above him. This weekend is the perfect chance for the Pramac Ducati rider to claw onto the gap between him and the top spot in the championship with both his rivals having problems. Ducati as a manufacturer have come with new aero parts and have shown a significant improvement. They are posing as a serious threat to Yamaha and Aprilia.
Fabio Quartararo will be serving a long lap penalty for his mischief in the Dutch Grand Prix whilst we aren’t sure whether Aleix Espargaro will take part in Sunday’s race. This being due to the Spainard’s horrific crash during FP4 of the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone. The Frenchman broke the lap record with his qualifying time of 1m57.767s which was 0.098s clear of Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales after a late surge from the 2016 British GP winner. This is Johann Zarco’s eighth MotoGP pole position and his second one achieved in 2022.

“It’s a nice feeling because this morning already I could think about this lap under ‘58, but I had a crash. Then in the afternoon during FP4, it was a good lap time with the hard rear tyre. Then when I moved to the soft one for the qualifying I was feeling quite good on the bike” he said.
“The first lap, a 1m58.4s, was already good, and I was feeling that there is something extra to do. On the second tyre, the good lap, Jack [Miller] and Fabio was a bit in front, so it was a great reference to have this motivation. Really happy that just on the first lap of the tyre, that I think is the moment for the tyre, was the best performance I could do” he continued.
Johann Zarco should not underestimate the riders behind him on the grid tomorrow as everyone is hungry to win. The Pramac Ducati rider will line up ahead of both the Ducati riders Miller and Francesco Bagnaia, as well as Quartararo in fourth and Espargaro in sixth after a huge crash in FP4.This is going to make the opening lap of the British Grand Prix much more interesting.
