Marc Marquez’s 2023 season has been nothing short of a nightmare for the Spaniard. With just 15 points in his bag, he sits on 19th position in the standings. Marquez has fallen 14 times in the first eight rounds of the 2023 season, with five of them being in the German Grand Prix alone. He recently opened up about his current situation and revealed how much pressure he is under.
Marc Marquez has stated that professionally he is undergoing the worst period of his career. But at the same time, he said that the summer break gave him time to recover his body and energy, due to which he is in a good position at a personal level.
“Falling all the time and having many injuries is difficult on a mental level. Professionally it is the worst moment of my career. The summer break served me to rebuild my body and also to recover my energy,” Marquez was quoted by FormulaPassion. He also revealed that while most people in his circle are supportive of him, many have a negative approach as well as they encourage him to stop. He said, “Some people around me say it’s time to stop. But most tell me to try to continue and that’s what I’m doing.”

Marc Marquez has been known to completely dominate MotoGP. While his teammates struggled to give competition in the lower order of the standings, Marquez was the only Honda rider to fight for titles. As he goes through the toughest phase of his career, MotoGP journalist Dennis Noyes claims that the rider is not everything for overall results.
Noyes said that there was a belief that Marquez would win with any machinery back in 2018-2019 as his teammates used to struggle while he was winning titles with the same bike. He believes that Marquez’s current form has proved this wrong as he says the rider contributes to 60% of the overall performance.
“When there were doubts about Honda in 2018 and 2019, as the teammate was always bad, but Marc kept winning, I remember everyone saying: «Marc would win with anything». The truth is, no. When we talk about how much the rider matters in relation to the bike, we often say that the rider is 60 percent,” Noyes is quoted by Motorcycle sports.
Marc Marquez’s brother Alex Marquez is currently on ninth position in the standings, well ahead of his sibling on 19th. Meanwhile, the eight-time world champion has only managed to score his points in the sprint races in 2023. The Spaniard is yet to score a point in the Sunday Grands Prix and will surely be aiming to do that in the Austrian Grand Prix being held on 20th August.
