Marc Marquez could easily be called as the backbone of Honda. After his crash in Jerez during the 2020 season, it just hasn’t been the same with Marc not able to compete at 100%. This was due to multiple surgeries on his right arm and recovery phases taking in a hush manner to get the world champion back on the bike. While these efforts were going on, Honda’s performances as a manufacturer went on the decline. The Spaniard was forced to sit out of the 2022 MotoGP season due to a fourth operation on his right arm.

Although this has not stopped Marc Marquez from being emotionally and professionally involved with Repsol Honda and the MotoGP project with the manufacturer. This has to be the worst phase in the history of Honda’s involvement in MotoGP and the eight time world champion is working to change that. While in an interview with the Repsol Media, the Spaniard pointed out a way to get Honda back on top.

“My intention and my hope is to see Honda at the top again, not like in the last few races, but on the bikes at the front. For that we need teamwork, we need information not to be lost along the way, for Japan to work with Europe, for Europe to work on the circuit and for the riders, logically, to give 100 percent,” he said.

It is highly disappointing for Honda to go from being in the top bunch to barely even making it into the points. Honda is currently in last place in the constructors standings too with a total of just 88 points. A solution is massively needed to solve the Japanese manufacturer’s problems. Marc Marquez will be back in the MotoGP paddock for the Austrian Grand Prix where he won’t be racing. He will be attending to reconnect with his team and discuss Honda’s plans for the future.
