Marc Marquez and Honda have shared a fruitful partnership over the decades. Having competed together, the two have gone on to achieve immense success in the sport. However, 2019 was the last year that the Spaniard won a championship with Honda. It has all seemingly gone downhill for the Japanese manufacturer since then. This has also sparked rumours of Marquez leaving the team after 2023.
There have been rumours of Marc Marquez joining his brother Alex Marquez at Gresini Racing as they have a spot open. All the Ducati bosses have expressed their intention to sign the Spanish World Champion. However, Marc has been very secretive when it comes to his decision for his future in MotoGP. After a disappointing teat with the 2024 Honda, Marc said he would make his decision by India or Japan.
In an interview, he shares his thoughts on the current situation. “In my mind I am quite clear,” stated Marquez when asked if he has decided on his future. “About the mental side, I don’t have any doubts about myself, or what is best for the situation.“We are working very hard together [with Honda], not only here but since the last races, to find the best [solution] and to have a better future for the project and to have the best results as soon as possible,” he stated.

Marc Marquez wouldn’t be announcing his decision for the future at the Japanese GP race weekend
The Japanese GP that’s taking place this weekend is also Honda’s home race. Many individuals from the Japanese manufacturer will be coming down to the track to hold meetings and get a grasp on the tight situation that the teams are in. It would be a bit disrespectful if Marc Marquez made any announcements this weekend. However, with him being clear on his future plans, the decision would be imminent after Japan.

The Spaniard went on to qualify P7 at Motegi. Championship contender Jorge Martin has gone on to take pole position, while leader Pecco Bagnaia has qualified on the front row. Marco Bezzecchi is down in P4 and ready to charge. It will be interesting to see who takes home the big points in today’s sprint. With 7 rounds remaining, the pressure in on for the championship rivals.
