Marc Marquez and Honda have enjoyed a successful partnership. Until 2019, it seemed like the Spaniard and his team were unbeatable. Marc won his 6th world championship with the Japanese manufacturer back then. However, times have changed, and so has Honda’s pace. With Marc’s injuries, the Japanese manufacturer was also not able to progress without him and has fallen back on its European rivals.
Marc Marquez was originally contracted to race with Repsol Honda until 2024. However, there have been recent rumours in the paddock stating that he could make a shock switch to KTM. The most recent ones even suggested that the Spaniard would join his brother, Alex Marquez at Gresini Racing. However, this means that he would have to break the contract with Honda for next year in order for a move to be possible.
Asked on Saturday whether the speculation was a distraction, Marquez said: “No, it’s never a distraction, it’s a part of our jobs. Even on Thursday I created even more [speculation].
“So I’m enjoying, but you know, I’m 30-years-old already, I focus on the race track, I focus on my team, try to find the best,” he said. “On Monday, we have an important test and yeah, it’s part of our job also, but it’s okay,” he continued.
Marc Marquez finished 10th in the Misano MotoGP sprint

Having started ninth in Saturday’s Misano MotoGP sprint, Marc Marquez finished the 13 lap race in tenth position behind his brother Alex Marquez. Alex beat him to get the final points paying position leaving him hungry for points for Sunday. On the other hand, Pecco Bagnaia managed to finish third in the sprint following his horrific accident at the Catalan Grand Prix.
The fight for the MotoGP riders world championship continues, with Pecco Bagnaia still holding a commanding lead over his rivals. With Jorge Martin winning the Sprint race and Marco Bezzecchi claiming second place, the title battle is bound to get tight. It will be interesting to see what happens during Sunday’s main race. Since it’s home turf for Ducati and Pecco, the stakes are even higher for them.
