Marco Bezzecchi hasn’t had the best few days when it comes to his race weekends. Having been a key contender for the title throughout the season, his hopes are slowly starting to fade away as trouble builds up race by race. Sunday’s Catalan GP was the second race in a row where the Italian MotoGP rider was taken out right at the start of the Grand Prix.
Back at the Austrian GP, Marco Bezzecchi came into contact with Jorge Martin who made an aggressive move that led to them crashing out of the race. A similar affair took place in Barcelona at turn 1. Enea Bastianini took a lunge at the first turn and hit Johan Zarco. This in turn triggered yet another crash with Fabio Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi.
Speaking about this incident, here is what Marco Bezzecchi had to say. “Like in Austria I didn’t see anything. I just got hit by four/five bikes. When I saw the images after I understood [what happened] but then my bikes was not starting unfortunately,” he said. “I hurt my left hand, especially my thumb and my right leg albeit to a lesser extent. I hope to be ok for Misano,” he continued.
Marco Bezzecchi has sustained injuries to his thumb and his right leg

The Mooney VR 46 rider has revealed that he hurt his left hand and right leg wherein his thumb was also hurt. More checks will be done but it looks like the Italian rider will be declared fit to race in Misano. On the other hand, Ducati factory rider Enea Bastianini has been ruled out for the next three races due to the injuries that he has sustained. Johann Zarco even went on to criticise him for trying to be a hero.
This means that he will be missing the inaugural Indian GP. Reigning champion Pecco Bagnaia also had a high side on turn 2 at the Catalan GP which led to KTM’s Brad Binder running over his leg. Nevertheless, he is declared fit and will be racing this weekend. The battle for the championship has taken quite a few turns due to incidents such as these.
