Maverick Vinales scores his first podium with Aprilia, says he is “the happiest man in the world”

After finishing second in last year’s Dutch GP, Vinales had announced on monday that he would not be competing with Yamaha after only one year in his two year contract with the team. The split between the two parties did not come as a shock to many. There was  obviously tension between Vinales and the factory Japanese team over the past few years. Maverick Vinales

He is the kind of driver that needs a comfortable environment around him in order to perform well. The switch to Aprilia seemed imminent and rightly so as Vinales has started to get back on his groove.

The #12 rider’s performance has slowly been improving as he comes to grips with his new bike for 2022 and continues on with the adaptation process after his first podium was taken away from him with bad luck striking on him in Germany forcing him to retire from fourth place in the race due to a broken ride height system. All was forgotten when Maverick finally got his breakthrough and stood on the podium for the first time with Aprilia last weekend.

After all the events that happened in the past, this is what the Aprilia rider had to say after finally standing on the podium again –

“A lot has happened but right now I am the happiest man in the world.

“I can’t ask for anything more, I have a very competitive bike, a very good group, a completely nice factory that Aprilia is behind myself, pushing me every day.

I have a beautiful family. So, I cannot ask for anything more. I have everything I always dreamed about and I’m ready to push. I’m ready to go on top, so I will push every day and I will make myself even stronger,” he said.

“It’s not easy because right now the competition in MotoGP is very strong, but I know what I’m able to do.

So, I will push, push, push and see where I find myself in the last race of the year.”

Maverick Vinales’s adaption towards his new bike and his new team continues. Will we see the Aprilia rider on the podium again?

Only time will tell.
