Pecco Bagnaia suffered a high side during last weekend’s Catalan MotoGP round in Barcelona at just Turn 2 during the opening stage of the race. After being thrown off his bike, the Italian rider came in the way of multiple riders who tried to avoid hitting him. However, KTM’s Brad Binder was not able to act in time and ended up running over Pecco’s leg and sending him into a spin.

Thankfully, Pecco Bagnaia escaped with no serious injuries. With no major injuries, it is understood that the reigning world champion will be able to race at this weekend’s San Marino MotoGP. This will be Bagnaia and Ducati’s home race. On the other hand, there are still concerns about whether Pecco is 100% ready and fit to race. Bagnaia further revealed what he did after his horror weekend in Barcelona.

In an interview, here is what the 2022 MotoGP world champion had to say. “On Sunday night, I went back home with the team, and after getting some rest, I immediately started preparing to be ready to return to the track in Misano,” Bagnaia said. “On Thursday, I will undergo the medical checkup at the circuit, and if, as I hope, the doctors give me the OK, I will be able to get on track on Friday for the first practice of my home Grand Prix,” he continued.

Pecco Bagnaia’s teammate at Ducati has suffered yet another injury that will prevent him from racing for a few weeks. The Italian rider was diagnosed with fractures to his left ankle and hand. He went on to get surgery done on those injuries last evening. It has been noted that the surgery was successful. Alas, Enea Bastianini will be missing this weekend’s San Marino GP at Misano, along with the inaugural Indian GP and the longstanding Japanese GP.

Pecco’s incident at the Catalan GP has decreased his championship standings advantage from 62 points to 50 points. The Italian rider will be keen to win yet another championship this year to seal his name amongst the legends. His title rival Marco Bezzecchi also had a horrid weekend in Barcelona. It is going to be a close fight in the coming races for the 2023 MotoGP riders world championship title.
