Pedro Acosta who is best known for winning the 2021 Moto3 world championship and is currently competing in Moto2 with Red Bull Ajo team. Turning 18 years old just this May, everyone thought that the young rider would have references of the riders on the current grid such as Marc Marquez but that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.

The young rider happens to take inspiration from the older generation of riders from a time where he used to still follow motorcycle racing on the television and not compete in it. Pedro Acosta revealed in an interview that he had older riders kept in his memories for the sport and explained why he did that.

“At the end of the day, it’s about what riders you see when you grow up” :  Pedro Acosta explains

Pedro Acosta

“When I was a child, we could watch MotoGP in Spain on open television and sometimes old races were shown on television. At the end of the day, it’s about what riders you see when you grow up. For example, I remember [Casey] Stoner more than Marquez. Because when Marquez entered MotoGP, I was already competing. With the others, I would sit at home and watch the races – Stoner, [Dani] Pedrosa, [Jorge] Lorenzo… maybe that’s why I don’t see the current MotoGP riders as role models that I want to emulate” he said.

Pedro Acosta has 10 starts and 1 win to his name in his 2022 campaign and has 75 points to his name. After winning the Moto3 championship he intends to bring that form in the second half of the season too by trying to aim for even more wins in the remainder of this season.
