Fabio Quartararo
With a tumultuous race in Portimao, Portugal, the Portuguese MotoGP went underway for the MotoGP Championship season 2022. And the fans got to see some amazing racing as reigning World Champion Fabio Quartararo became victorious with some magnificent show of race pace in his Yamaha motorcycle.
The Portuguese MotoGP race was a crucial one for current World Champion Fabio Quartararo as the French rider had a lot to prove in this week’s race. Fabio Quartararo did not have a great start to this season with the first four races in the schedule.
While he did manage to get a P2 finish in Mandalika, Indonesia, he could not get a race win in the season openers, and achieved only one podium in all these races. As the MotoGP pundits were speculating, the Yamaha machine was not up to speed and was non-competitive when compared to the other riders and their motorbikes. But putting an end to all the rumors, Quartararo came through and got his first podium in this season and 25 Championship points to his name too.
After coming 5th in the Qualifiers, Fabio Quartararo put up a brilliant performance to win the Portimao MotoGP

In the Qualifiers in Portugal, fans watched with awe as Fabio Quartararo improved his performance from his previous races in the 2022 season and landed a P5 position. He started the race behind Ducati rider John Miller, but quickly overtook his competition to go to the lead of the pack.

Heading into Portugal, Fabio Quartararo had said, “To be honest, coming from the last race I feel that I am riding at my best. When you have this trouble that the bike is not going well, I would say, because that’s my feeling, you try to do your best by yourself.”
It is with this newfound confidence in him that the French rider soared to P1 in Portimao, with Qualifiers pole position winner Johann Zarco coming second and Alex Espargaro coming third.
