With multiple riders having contracts for next season, it is getting more and more difficult for Takaaki Nakagami to secure his future in MotoGP. The Japanese rider’s main priority is to stick with Honda although that seems a bit tough since Ai Ogura is one of the riders that the Japanese team is considering for next year.
Takaaki is currently 16th in the world riders championship with 42 points which makes him the best Honda rider with the exception being Marc Marquez as he is placed higher but has had to sit out of the sport for this season due to a fourth operation on his right arm.
“Even if I’m the best Honda rider I can’t honestly be happy with a result around tenth place.” : Takaaki Nakagami
‘Until last year, I was simply chasing results. This year, however, I ask myself if I did my best and did my best when I reached the finish line for each race. I would be happy if the results came, but the reality is that I’m not chasing results and numbers right now. Now it’s a miracle to win and get on the podium’, the Japanese rider said.
“It would be great to beat Pol and finish in the top six or seven. Recently, I’ve been finishing more and more at the top among Honda riders, but I don’t really know how much they value that. It would be nice if the results were really good, but even if I’m the best Honda rider I can’t honestly be happy with a result around tenth place.” : he continued.
The MotoGP break will come to an end in the month of August when the racing will resume with the Silverstone GP kicking off the second half of the season. It is going to be crucial for the Japanese rider to give his very best in order to retain his street for next year.
