This weekend marks a moment in history as MotoGP races for the first time in India with Buddh International Circuit doing the honours of hosting the race. Aleix Espargaro and some other riders had previously raised their concerns regarding the rider’s safety whilst racing on the track. However, everything was sorted out before track action started at Noida.
Qualifying was a big deal at this track, and Aleix Espargaro didn’t have the best experience so far today. Aprilia released the rider as per the pre-delay schedule and sent him to the pit lane a whole three minutes before the session started. He was then pushed back through the pits with the help of Prustel GP mechanics. During this whole time, the tyres kept cooling down which was not a good sign at all.
It is important to keep the tires at an optimal temperature to get the best output of performance. This incident completely ruined that and caused a huge disadvantage to the Aprilia rider. As soon as he came into the garage, Aleix went on to scream and slam his hand on the other MotoGP bike in anger and frustration. He went on to kick stuff around the garage.

With qualifying coming to an end, it was an all Ducati front row, with Marco Bezzecchi becoming the first ever pole sitter for the inaugural Indian MotoGP round. Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia went on to take the other two spots on the front row. It was surprising to see Repsol Honda riders Joan Mir and Marc Marquez qualify 5th an 6th respectively. On the other hand, Aprilia was down at the bottom of the first half of the grid.
Aleix Espargaro got beaten by his teammate Maverick Vinales who finished one position ahead of him in 9th place. The race distance has also been shortened following the harsh temperatures at India that are affecting the riders. It will be interesting to see if Marco can convert his pole into a win at today’s sprint race. All is to play for at the Indian GP.
