Aprilia have taken a massive stride this year in MotoGP under the leadership of Massimo Rivola. The team is fighting for the teams, drivers and manufacturers title in 2022. With Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales at the helm, Aprilia is in good hands for the next few years.
The Manufacturer is in a very favourable position as they are second in the driver’s championship with Aleix Espargaro and are leading the teams championship. When it comes to the constructors championship, Aprilia is behind leaders Ducati and Yamaha.
This is a testament to how the Aprilia engines are when compared to manufacturers like KTM and Honda. The team still has a long way to go as said by CEO Massimo Rivola. The Noale based manufacturer is not under any illusion when it comes to the situation that they aren in which is pretty favourable. The team has a strong pairing of riders Espargaro and Vinales who have proved in recent times how dependable they are. The Aprilia CEO stated that they do not have the best engine as of now but in turn have the best overall package on the 2022 MotoGP grid.
“We make very good use of what we have”: Rivola on the team’s recent performances
“We’re a long way from the best engine. We are not on the level of KTM, not on the level of Honda. But we make very good use of what we have. That’s our advantage at the moment. We benefit from our aerodynamics, our chassis and our electronics set-up. We have found a good combination in these areas. I’m not relaxed because we won’t have any more ‘concessions’ next year,” he said.
Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales have been a great pairing for Aprilia solidifying their chances of winning the championships that they are contending for. Aleix Espargaro is 2nd in the riders championship behind Fabio Quartararo with a gap of 22 points. Meanwhile the Aprilia duo managed by Ceo Massimo Rivola have a small lead over Ducati in the team’s championship. With the last few rounds of the season remaining, it is all to play for.
