Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez have battled it out for the best part of almost half a decade. The duo has had some memorable as well as certain controversial clashes throughout the course of their career as that includes Valentino Rossi kicking the six time world champion Marc Marquez which costed Rossi the championship.

When Marc Marquez made his entry into MotoGP as a rookie and at that point in time Valentino Rossi was at the top of his game but it never seemed like both were at the same level as Marc Marquez didn’t give an inch to the legend of this support. Marquez is in on his way to winning the seventh world championship if he is able to replicate his performances.

The former champion didn’t seem to care about Valentino Rossi’s absence from the sport as thought that Rossi was anyway not a competition in the last years of his career and had lost his touch and in turn lost his dominance over the sport as youngsters had taken over the reins from the veteran of the sport.

Marc Marquez didn’t hold back in one of his interviews. He said, “I mean he was not one of the main opponents for the title. In the last years I was looking for the fastest guys.

“The fastest guys were Pecco [Bagnaia], Quartararo and Joan [Mir] in 2020. Of course MotoGP loses an icon, but MotoGP continues. I think it will be a nice season.”  

“Of course for 2022 I want to fight for the title. For the Qatar GP maybe I’m not ready, but during the weekend we will see where we are.” as reported by crash.net.

Valentino Rossi might not have been at the peak of his powers but was definitely among one of the best as continued to ride along even at the death stage of his career. Marc Marquez’s comment come as a shock to the MotoGP community
