“We had a technical problem,” Marc Marquez left frustrated despite the potential race-winning speed shown at the Austin GP

Marc Marquez can feel hard done by after the Austin GP as he finished sixth despite the pace that he showed throughout the length of the race. Just like the season, the start to this race was anything but ideal for the six time world champion. A technical problem left ‘King of COTA’ Marc Marquez in 24th and last at turn one. But he showed character when the chips were down and was able to shrug off what happened at the start of the race.

From that position, the Spaniard dashed through the field passing the riders one by one. It was vividly evident that Marc Marquez wasn’t close to 100% but he battled through it finishing 6th ahead of his nemesis, Fabio Quartararo. Marquez is making a comeback after his horrific crash in Indonesia which triggered his past injuries giving him double vision problems. He even considered retiring from sport in the wake of such injuries.

But, the sheer love for the sport brought him back and how. Marc Marquez enjoyed a flawless pre season clocking some serious pace and showed a lot of promise going into the season. But, the season has been disappointing keeping in the mind the mind boggling standards he has set in the past seasons. But, fortunately, the Spaniard is slowly and steadily finding some form ahead of the business end of the season.

Marc Marquez didn’t look like a pleased man and the post race interview substantiated that assumption. The six time world champion, after the race, said, “On one hand I am disappointed because it is clear we had the speed. I was able to enjoy the race a lot, coming through from the back, but 25 points were possible today.”

“Since I arrived on the start I saw some alarm [warning light on the dash]. I tried to start, but the bike was crazy and I thought it was something big because until the first corner there was no [power] from the bike.”

“To be here this weekend was a satisfaction and to finish the race in sixth position also is satisfaction, if we check how we start the race.”  As reported by crash.

Marc Marquez has started to show that he can still produce performances of the highest order. Despite not being race fit, he breezed past a bunch of drivers and showed what he was all about. A few more performances like these can bring him back right in the mix to fight for the title.
