“We’re starting to make races like in 2020,” Joan Mir reminiscences his title winning season following a strong start to 2022

Joan Mir
Joan Mir signed for Suzuki back in 2020 and immediately made an impact with his title winning season. The Spaniard always has had the potential but it was yet to be seen if he could deal with the pressure at the grandest stages of all. Joan Mir didn’t disappoint one bit. Although the start to the season was nothing but ideal. Joan crashed out of the two of the first three races of the season.
But the mentality that he showed after that was world class. He started racking up some impressive performances and never looked back from there. Although he rode his fair share of luck since he was leading the championship after 10 rounds of the season despite not having won a single race.
That was down to a combination of inconsistent performances from his title rivals such as 3-time race winner Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales and some solid performances from Joan Mir himself. The world expected him to kick on from his title winning season in 2020. But, unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be that way as there was a dip in his form and to make matters worse, Fabio Quartararo was in sublime touch.
Joan Mir impressed with the team’s performance following a decently strong start to the season

But, that seems to be in the past as Joan Mir has regained some of his lost forms after a decent start to the season. The Spaniard seems to be happy with the bike. He recently said, “We’re starting to make races like in 2020, from less to more and trying to give the 100% of the potential of our bike.”
“In Qatar, we saw that we missed something, but the truth is from Qatar to now I’ve started to feel a lot better. So, let’s continue like that. I think that this year if we are focused and we are able to make that next click with this bike that I think we can do it, we will fight again for a good position at the end of the season for sure,” said Mir, as reported by autorsport.
Joan Mir does definitely have the talent and to top it, he’s a proven winner now. What is left to be seen is whether he can bounce back from a horrible season in 2021.
