MS Dhoni is the highest paid player in IPL history followed by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

MS Dhoni is considered one of the greatest captains India has ever had. The wicket-keeper batsman was also impactful with his captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The 39-year-old has led CSK in 11 out of the 13 seasons of the IPL. In the other two seasons, CSK was banned from playing in the IPL and hence, Dhoni turned up for the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS).
Dhoni has also been one of the most consistent captains in the IPL having led his side to three IPL titles – in 2010, 2011 and 2018 and 8 final appearances. In his 11 years as captain of CSK, he has led his side to the playoffs 10 times with the 2020 IPL at the UAE being the only exception. The former Indian captain is also the most capped player in the tournament’s history with 204 caps to his name.
Dhoni earned Rs. 137 crores from the IPL
MS Dhoni was bought by CSK in the first ever IPL auction for a huge sum of Rs. 6 crores in 2008. Thanks to his continued success, Dhoni became a marquee name in the IPL and his salary kept increasing. According to InsideSport, MS Dhoni has received a total of over Rs. 137 crores by taking part in the IPL. This amount is also said to not include any awards and prizes that Dhoni has got such as the Man of the Match award.
Dhoni is followed by two other household names in Indian cricket. Coming in 2nd is Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma who has led his side to 5 IPL titles. Rohit has earned nearly Rs. 131 crores. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and current Indian skipper Virat Kohli comes in at 3rd with Rs. 126 crores.
