If there are a few debates in international cricket that would always be endless, one of them has to be about who the best captain of the Indian cricket team is. The question has taken a new shape in recent times and now two individuals have been imbricated deeply within this debate, one of them being MS Dhoni and the other, Virat Kohli.

In an old post that was posted by Cricbuzz in 2010, a glimpse of a chat between two icons, Dhoni and Kohli is going viral again and the netizens cannot get enough of it, especially now that the world has travelled that entire time period.

The post highlighted a chat where Dhoni said that Kohli was the best captain because he won the U19 World Cup in 2008 with Ravindra Jadeja in his side. Only if he had known that he was going to redefine the entire genre of being an all-rounder, he would have known better to say.

In the 2008 U19 World Cup, Jadeja was primarily used as a bowler and even when he came to the Indian cricket team, he was primarily a bowling all-rounder. Things started to shift later in his career when he found a new side through his blade and he began nailing his role in all the departments.

A glimpse at India’s journey under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in the upcoming years

Back in 2010, India had just won the 2007 T20 World Cup but then things went downhill for the Men in Blue until 2011. MS Dhoni scripted history as he and his men ended a 28-year-long drought and propelled India to a triumph on the biggest stage of all.

In 2013, Team India went on to win the ICC Champions Trophy under Dhoni’s leadership and since then they have continued their dominance. When Virat Kohli took over the reins, things did look bleak away from home but from thereon, he went onto propel India to a historic series win against Australia twice and that too once in the latter’s backyard.

In the ICC events, however, things didn’t really fall in place for Kohli and company but they never let the dominion fall behind the standard benchmark. Ravindra Jadeja, though proved himself to be a priceless presence in the Indian team and he was a part of the ICC Champions Trophy winning side before he went on to make ripples in the international circuit in all formats.
