Thomas Muller feels Lewandowski can assert his dominance as one of the world’s best attacker, when Bayern face Barcelona in the UCL quarterfinals. Lewandowski scored two and assisted two in Bayern’s second leg last 16 victory over Chelsea. Now the Bavarians will face the Catalans in a single tie quarterfinal in Lisbon.

Both Lewandowski and Messi have won the golden boot in their respective leagues. However the two have very different playing styles. Messi plays as a number 10 creating plays and giving assists. Whereas Lewandowski plays as a proper number 9, scoring and poaching goals.

In an interview Muller said, “We’ll see that on Friday. Lewy will have to answer this question. Messi also played very well today. But it’s up to Lewy and us to answer this question in Lewy’s favor on Friday. Barca may not have won the Spanish championship and they have certainly revealed some problems, but anything can happen in these knockout games. Any run can end there if you have a bad day.”

Hansi Flick on Lewandowski

Bayern’s head coach also praised Lewandowski’s role that he has played over the years.

In an Interview Hansi Flick said, “We would not mind if he continued like this. He showed again today how important he is for us. He not only scored two goals, but also assisted two goals. We are very happy that we have him in our team.I was a little more tense than usual. I had a lot of respect for Chelsea because the team is very speedy. Chelsea have a very exciting team with many young, talented players and I am excited to see how the next few years will look. I was very happy with the way we came back after the short break. We were very dominant in the first 30 minutes that was really good. In the second half we got the game back on track and earned this win.”

Now Lewandowski and Messi will come face to face in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal on 15th of August 2020. Both teams will push for their 6th Champions league crown.
