The halftime show is one of the best parts of every Super Bowl. It has been customary for the breakout artist of that year to feature on the stage and put their creativity and artistic genius forward. This year was phenomenal for Kendrick Lamar, and unsurprisingly, the NFL approached him to perform in New Orleans.

The show had its fair share of highlights. With Serena Williams crip walking on national television and Kendrick Lamar performing his highly-anticipated diss track, Not Like Us and Samuel L. Jackson decked up as Uncle Sam. The entire Caesars Superdome repeated the lyrics to the diss track, and that was amazing to see.

However, the rest of the show was subpar. There were two types of people present at the Superdome, those who were well-versed with Kendrick Lamar’s material and those who were oblivious to his other hits.

This created a bizarre situation because, at a time when fans were supposed to be moving and grooving, they were busy scrolling through their phones.

Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show is being dubbed as one of the worst

The multiple Grammy Award winner and Pulitzer Prize Awardee failed to carry the momentum into Super Bowl weekend. Fans resorted to social media to express their disappointment with the show. One fan described it as being the ‘worst halftime show ever’ and another went on to compare it to The Weeknd’s 2021 halftime show in terms of how bad it was.

A video taken by fans displayed the environment at the Superdome. Fans seemed to be least interested in watching the show. Everyone was lost in their own worlds and one thing was clear. The artist failed to captivate and hold their attention throughout. Here’s how fans reacted to the show via X:

There have been doubts surrounding Kendrick Lamar being the performer at Super Bowl LIX. Fans had vouched for the NFL to invite hometown heroes such as Lil Wayne and Master P, who find their roots in the city of New Orleans.

Some fans went as far as to say that a Drake halftime show would have fared better than Kendrick Lamar too, but Jay Z and Roc Nation Sports, the organization responsible for picking the performers wanted to push the hottest artist of the moment to the fans.
