Vaibhav Pandya, the step-brother of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya, was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police on 8th April. After being presented to court on April 16, his custody with the police has been extended till 19th April.

According to reports, Vaibhav Pandya, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya joined together and formed a polyester business in 2021. The two brothers invested 40% each, while Vaibhav invested 20%. The trio decided that they would split profits in the same ratio as well, but Vaibhav increased his profit ratio to 33%.

He formed his own firm dealing in the same field as well, breaking his agreement with the sibling and causing them over ₹3 crore in loss. He also took the sibling’s investment and transferred over ₹1 crore into his personal account. Vaibhav and his lawyer argue that the complaint by the sibling has no basis and it was just a misunderstanding between them.

Hardik Pandya’s spot in 2024 T20 World Cup in danger

National selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma have reportedly decided to drop Hardik Pandya unless he bowls well in the 2024 IPL. The all-rounder, who hasn’t featured for India in any format since being ruled out of the 2023 ODI World Cup, is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL but is having a horrible time.

The trio of Sharma, Agarkar and Dravid had a two-hour long meeting at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai. A major chunk of this meeting was regarding Pandya and his inclusion in the Indian squad. The three look at the all-rounder as the star which brings balance to the squad, but needs to now bowl regularly in the IPL.

Pandya has bowled 11 overs in six matches so far, picking up three wickets. But the thing that is of concern is his economy rate. In the 11 overs he has bowled, he has been hit for 132 runs, with an economy of 12. Pandya was recently hit for three consecutive sixes by MS Dhoni as well.
