Mumbai Teen spends Rupees 10 lakh on PUBG from mother’s bank account, flees home later

PUBG Mobile, a game known for breaking records ever since its release is also known to be very addictive and harming the mental health of teenagers directly. According to The Tribune, a teenager residing in Mumbai escaped from his home after allegedly spending Rupees 10 lakhs on PUBG.
PUBG Mobile became the highest grossing game in July 2021 but it is also important to know that the game has been banned in several countries including India. Parents from different countries are expressive concerns over the adverse impacts of PUBG, hindering the creative growth of the mind of their children. This prompted several countries to impose a ban on the game. However, after the ban many countries are now having their own version of PUBG Mobile.
Many incidents are coming into light of children committing suicide due to some minor reasons regarding PUBG. This time, a teenager has fled home after spending 10 lakhs on PUBG to buy in-game items.
Teen spends Rupees 10 lakh on PUBG
According to the news reports given by The Tribune, A 16-year-old boy ran away from home in Mumbai after his parents reprimanded him for allegedly spending Rs 10 lakh through online transactions for playing PUBG. Subsequently, he was traced back and sent back to his parents.

The parents of the teenager claimed that the teenager had been addicted to PUBG Mobile since last month. He got access to his mother’s bank account and withdrew Rupees 10 lakhs to buy the in-game currency and spent it to buy outfits as well as other accessories in the game.
Last year, PUBG Mobile was banned under the Information Technology ACT’s Section 69A in September 2020. Privacy concerns were the primary reason for the game’s ban. Even though Battlegrounds Mobile India which is the Indian adaptation of PUBG Mobile is available, some teenagers are still engaging towards the former game.
Incidents such as these have become very common nowadays as teenagers are desperate to buy outfits from the game as well as different accessories. Not only that, the growing addiction of the game is taking a toll on the children’s mental health. Apart from India, countries like Iran, Vietnam and China have also imposed a ban upon this game due to the excessive violent content in the game.
