Khabib Nurmagomedov and his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov

Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov submitted Justin Gaethje at the main event of UFC 254 to successfully defend his lighweight title. This win only further cemented his legacy as one of the best in the business, having been undefeated so far. But what followed next was what shocked the world. Khabib announced his retirement in an emotional post- match speech, stating that he would not continue fighting without his father by his side.

His father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov had passed away months prior to the match due to several complications brought on by COVID-19. It was always evident that Khabib and his father shared a special bond, and the Russian only made it further stronger when he chose to retire undefeated, just like his late father wished.

“This is beautiful, this mural of my tribute for Khabib and his father”: Bosslogic

A huge mural was currently painted in Derbent City, Dagestan paying tribute to Khabib’s late father. The mural was based off of the digital artwork created by Bosslogic, one of the top digital artists in the world today — moments after Khabib vs Gaethje at UFC 254.

“This fight meant more. Congratulations, champion,” Bosslogic tweeted in addition to posting the artwork. Bosslogic’s (real name Kode Abdo) work has been featured in Invicta FC, as well as Marvel’s “Endgame,” among others.
