“Have shock on your face,” Former WWE star details how Vince McMahon’s last-minute change of plans SNATCHED away his big moment to reward Brock Lesnar
In a dramatic turn of events, a former WWE name was snubbed by Vince McMahon to hand Brock Lesnar the Money in the Bank contract.

During his stranglehold on WWE Creative, Vince McMahon had long harbored favoritism for Brock Lesnar. And why not, especially if someone like Lesnar has proven over and over again that he was one of the biggest draws in his heyday? In fact, at a phase when WWE was at its rock bottom creatively, McMahon would often resort to Brock out of desperation.
Back in 2019, Lesnar won the men’s Money in the Bank contract despite not being in the match initially. One of the participants, Mustafa Ali, whom Lesnar pushed off the ladder to grab the briefcase, narrated how everything fell into place on Insight. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Ali claimed that he was penciled in as the original winner that night.
However, right before he made his entrance, the 38-year-old was pulled aside by Vince. Other superstars were heading out in the meantime Mustafa got to know that McMahon had changed his mind. The former WWE CEO told Ali that everything would go as planned except for the ending.
Vince McMahon asked the former Cruiserweight Champion to climb up the ladder, and get a hold of the hanging briefcase, but not retrieve it. At that moment, someone else was supposed to enter the match and tip Ali over the ladder. That was Brock. The Heart of 205 Live added that no one else but him knew about the reworked finish of the match.
It must’ve been so tantalizing for Ali to come that close to a career-altering win and then hand it over to The Beast just because Vince said so. In its aftermath, Lesnar successfully cashed in the MITB contract on Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules. Brock held the WWE title until dropping it to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36.
Brock Lesnar’s WWE return situation continues to be a deadlock
Since his alleged involvement in the Janel Grant lawsuit, Brock Lesnar hasn’t made a single appearance for WWE. After over year-long speculation about his current status, the 47-year-old remains on the sidelines. A recent report from Dr. Chris Featherstone noted that he wouldn’t be back with the company in the foreseeable future.
That’d leave him out of WrestleMania for the second straight year. A recent photo of him and his wife, Sable, went viral on social media. Lesnar could be seen sporting his cowboy hat. Despite his prolonged absence, WWE hasn’t completely shunned The Beast Incarnate.
The past couple of months of WWE programming have witnessed multiple references to the former UFC Champion. However, as a report from PWInsider stated, the company would continue doing so to accentuate the ongoing storylines if there’s a need.
