Almost a month ago, MVP departed WWE after his contract expired. This didn’t come as a surprise to many fans given the former United States Champion’s social media outburst in June. MVP expressed his frustrations over his booking, even criticizing the current Triple H regime. In one of his responses to a fan lambasting HHH’s handling of black wrestlers, the veteran seemingly agreed to the statement.
This led to the majority of the wrestling community believing that MVP accused Hunter of being ‘racist’. However, that’s not the case, at least, according to the 50-year-old himself. During his appearance at the K&S WrestleFest, MVP broke silence over the situation. He denied ever saying that Hunter was a racist. Moreover, the aforementioned comment was just his response to how the WWE CCO books black talent on the roster.
Under the Triple H regime, Mr. 305 seldom made appearances on screen. After being paired with Omos, the duo was barely used on television, making sporadic appearances during live events and battle royals. As for what’s next for Montel Vontavious Porter, the legend announced that he will be launching his podcast soon. Further, he has promised to peel back the curtain on his WWE career and explain his reasons behind leaving.
I never said the man was racist. Hulk Hogan is racist. He said it himself, 'I'm a little bit racist.' He said that. As far as Triple H, I don't know that he is. I don't know what his motivations are, but I never said he was racist.MVP during K&S WrestleFest live signing
Prior to his departure, MVP appeared on Josh Barnett‘s Bloodsport and challenged him to a future showdown. The former Tag Team Champion affirmed that he had a lot left in his tank. As such, a bout between the two has been confirmed, which will take place at Bloodsport XII on November 24.
MVP reveals that WWE abruptly shot down Hurt Business reunion
Speaking of the aforementioned social media rant, MVP’s frustrations stemmed from WWE’s handling of The Hurt Business. The faction, consisting of MVP, Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin, found success during the pandemic era. However, they were broken up abruptly by WWE.
When Triple H took over the creative realm, it seemed that a reunion was set in motion. Despite that, nothing of the sort came to fruition. During his appearance on the K&S WrestleFest live signing, MVP revealed that WWE abruptly nixed plans for the faction.
The 50-year-old said that he received a phone call from Bruce Prichard, who informed him that WWE would go in a different direction. MVP claimed that he found it unprofessional, adding that it was not “good business” on WWE’s part. Lashley would go on to ally himself with The Street Profits instead.
