Khabib Nurmagomedov, the undisputed Lightweight champion of UFC announced his retirement following his win against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. But even after ‘The Eagle’s’ retirement UFC hasn’t vacated the Lightweight title and during a recent interview, Khabib showed intention not to hold it much longer.

In his latest interview with RT Sport, Khabib says “Top three lightweight fighters right now? Poirier, McGregor, and Islam Makhachev. He is not in the top-five yet, but those are the best fighters. My belt will be taken by the winner of Dustin and Conor.”

Conor McGregor is the former two divisions UFC Champion and Dustin Poirier is the former interim champion and both of them want the title in their hand after the retirement of Khabib. Although, Khabib also acknowledged the fact that Dana White wants him to come back and he’ll talk about the same to him.

He added, “We are in touch with Dana White, we have not discussed why the belt is not vacant, Apparently they want me to come back. I have been in the league for nine years, there is already history, a fan base, their desires are clear.”

“I will not hide the fact that they offer to return, offer conditions, and fighters. We will meet with Dana soon, we will discuss. I would not like there to be a possibility that I will return.”

Khabib’s manager clarified the situation

Ali Abdelaziz

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz tweets, “Enough with the fake news. Khabib said the winner of this fight will fight for the title he didn’t say the winner will become champion”. Ali said this quoting RT Sport that published this news first.

Khabib said that he would not like there to be a possibility that he will return and Ali said a different thing, even if we take into consideration what Ali is saying so if Conor wins the match at UFC 257, then we’ll get the chance to see Conor vs Khabib 2?
