Golden Boy Promotions, the promotion firm which promotes 22-year old unbeaten boxer Ryan Garcia, had revealed that the Garcia-Pacquiao fight wasn’t going to happen, contrary to what Ryan Garcia, himself had to say, the same day. Speaking to ESPN, Golden Boy Promotions executive Eric Gomez said, “There’s nothing to talk about there. They contacted us, but it turns out there’s nothing to talk about. That fight isn’t going to happen.”

However, Guadalupe Valencia who represents ‘King Ryan’ claimed otherwise. Speaking to the Athletic, he said, “We’re discussing terms. Manny and Ryan want it and instructed their teams to make it happen. That’s what we’re trying to accomplish.” Ryan Garcia, then posted a story to his Instagram claiming that the fight would go on as a real fight and not an exhibition with all records on the line.

In the video he posted, Garcia can be seen saying, “I just wanna make it real clear. My fight with Pacquiao will not be an exhibition. It will be a real fight…for 12 rounds. All on the line. Our records on the line. Just wanna make it very clear for everybody that were confused.

It is not clear as to what the situation exactly is, with different individuals having their own say in the fight taking place. But one thing is for sure, it will be a treat for boxing fans, especially if the fight is not an exhibition fight, with records on the line. Garcia is coming off a stunning comeback victory against Luke Campbell. Pacquiao, on the other hand, hasn’t fought in almost two years, although he still looks in great shape.

Will this fight come to fruition?
