Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett revealed on Friday that he has injuries on his foot, despite which he will keep playing for the team. Garrett also made a note to notify that he might need surgical procedures following the season, denoting how serious the injury is.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) took two days off to rest and relax but returned to the field for practices on Friday. He will take the field on Sunday as the Browns (1-1) play the New York Giants (0-2). The Browns have almost 16 players on the injury report, an unfavorable category in which they are second to only the Seattle Seahawks.
The DE announced that he doesn’t feel 100% fit to take the field and go out to play. However, he will attempt to make a difference, as he feels good enough to do that.
Don’t feel 100 percent, but feel good enough to go out there and make a difference, so we’ll go out there and do that.Myles Garrett said
Garrett also added that he considered surgery as an option after the season ends.
We talked about it, but that’s something that we’ll probably talk about further down the line. Hopefully the pain and everything else is something that we deal with and it goes away. But the issue itself is something that I’ll probably have to deal with for however long I end up playing. So it’s just about managing that and playing through it.Myles Garrett added

The injury was initially thought to be one foot before the player’s revelation. He picked up a pedal foot and right high-ankle sprain in 2017 and a pedal toe dislocation in 2023. Furthermore, Garrett has flat feet and has done surgeries to rectify it as a kid. He noted that the recent injuries could be a possible stemming up, but didn’t reveal the exact specifications of the injury.
Myles Garrett leads the Cleveland Browns defense deliverables
The Browns re-signed contracts with DE Za’Darius Smith and two prominent defensive tackles ahead of the season to keep their defense in ultimate form. They, alongside Ogbo Okoronkwo and Garrett, were instrumental in the successful defensive side the fans witnessed last year.

In 2023, the Browns ranked first in the NFL in defense – allowing just 270.2 yards per game as well as passing defense – allowing 164.7 yards per game. Furthermore, they also led third down percentage, allowing opponents a conversion rate of only 29.1 percent of the third-down attempts.
In addition to re-signing the core, they also have Jim Schwartz whose aggressive plays meticulously framed the Browns defense last year. Mike Vrabel also adds value to the squad as a personnel and coaching consultant this year.
Garrett has shown the same promise this year, recording strip sacks in the first two games of the season. However, their entire team would be put to the test against the Giants, especially their struggling offense.
