LeBron James has made a couple of big moves in his NBA career. So, Myles Garrett knew the Ohio native would be the perfect man to ask before announcing his trade request from the Browns earlier this month.
Garrett was considered to be among the untouchables in the Browns roster alongside Denzel Ward. He bagged four first-team All-Pros, 2 second-team All-Pros, 6 Pro Bowls, and a defensive player of the year win accolade in 2023 at the Browns.
The individual awards can satisfy players of Garrett’s caliber for so long. They always yearn for the Super Bowl. After seven years, eight seasons, and just three playoff appearances later, the 29-year-old decided it was time to move on from the Browns.
On Monday, Myles Garrett requested a trade from the Browns. Before announcing the news on social media, he consulted LeBron James. On Tuesday, while speaking with Rich Eisen on his show from New Orleans, Garrett revealed reaching out to the 4x NBA champion for advice.
[I wanted to know] Just what a transition looked like for him [LeBron James], what his thought process was going into it before he left Cleveland. Just making sure I made a logical decision taking my time… really that area, Northeast Ohio, has been his home and it feels like my home as well.
Myles Garrett told Rich Eisen.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry always shared the idea that the former first overall pick would play his entire career in Cleveland and then become part of the Hall of Fame in Canton. Garrett, on the other hand, recently clarified that his goal was never Cleveland to Canton. It was about winning the Super Bowl.
WR Amon Ra St. Brown wants the Detroit Lions to sign Myles Garrett
Every team in the NFL went into overdrive after Garrett requested the trade. Pundits linked the Texas A&M graduate with the likes of the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Detroit Lions.

The Lions Pro Bowl receiver Amon Ra St. Brown sounded excited while talking about Garrett on his podcast.
I should probably text (general manager) Brad (Holmes) and see, you know, what they’re thinking about doing. Him [Myles Garrett] and Aidan [Hutchinson], Alim [McNeil] and DJ [Reader], and all of our D-line. If you have a defensive line that’s nasty.

A trade to Detroit doesn’t seem like a bad idea considering they won consecutive NFC North titles after posting a 15-2 record in 2024. They lost in the divisional round but certainly count as a contender, and Garrett wants to play for one.
I just want to go to a contender… I don’t have much say in where I go but hopefully we can leave off on good terms and we can find a middle ground between us.
Myles Garrett said.
Garrett played all 17 games last season. He made 40 solo tackles and assisted seven while bagging 14 sacks, one pass deflection, three forced fumbles, and one fumble return.
