- Myles Garrett aims to win a Super Bowl and be named Super Bowl MVP after his second Defensive Player of the Year award.
- The Cleveland Browns face significant challenges, particularly on offense, with potential changes to their starting lineup.
- Quarterback Shedeur Sanders has Garrett's support but must prove himself to secure the starting position for the upcoming season.
As it’s the offseason, expect Micah Parsons to churn out podcast episodes every week. It means there won’t be a shortage of juicy gossip. For example, Parsons welcomed the Cleveland Browns’ star defensive end, Myles Garrett, onto his show and asked him about the next step in his career after recently bagging his second Defensive Player of the Year award.
Garrett confidently announced that he wants to win a Super Bowl. Not only that, his goal is to be named the best player in the Super Bowl as well.
[I want to win a] Super Bowl… [And] Super Bowl MVP.

Very lofty goals, but not out of the realm of possibility. Now, if fans listen carefully, Garrett did not mention any team names. He’s contracted to the Browns until the end of the 2028 season, so let’s assume he wants to win a championship ring in Cleveland, a place that has never won a Super Bowl. To make matters worse, the Browns have +15000 odds to win the Super Bowl, due to be held at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium.
Then again, it’s presumptuous to expect the Browns to have a bad year based on their recent history. Garrett and the Browns did make a couple of trips to the playoffs. However, Kevin Stefanski, the lead architect of the run, is now the head honcho in Atlanta. Todd Monken is the new face at the helm. Even though Monken has a long CV of managing several roles in the NFL, the Browns are his first head coaching gig. The only time Monken ever properly coached a team was in college at the University of Southern Miss.
Myles Garrett makes his feelings clear about Shedeur Sanders ahead of his second year in Cleveland
The Browns have loads of problems, most of it is in the offense, because the defense is among the best in the league. According to a recent report by Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, the Browns could release the entire starting offensive line from last season and start afresh. Wyatt Teller retired, and more could follow him out of Cleveland.

With that in mind, let’s switch focus to the quarterback position. Shedeur Sanders took over as QB1 toward the end of last season and went 3-4. Garrett admires the young signal caller, who experienced adversity during his rookie campaign.
That’s who we’re looking at as the guy. We’re going to give him a shot to prove that he is the guy. We’re not going to give anyone that title until they go out there and earn it.
Garret told Parsons
In simple terms, Sanders has Garrett’s support, but by no means does he view the Colorado graduate as the long-time starter. Sanders still needs to prove himself with a winning start in order to claim the title of the starting Browns quarterback.

In hindsight, Sanders’ claim to the QB throne is not concrete. Sure, he showed flashes of brilliance in limited appearances, but there were also signs of concern. He threw 10 interceptions in contrast to 7 touchdowns. Although fans want Sanders to start in week one, the final decision lies with Monken.
The good news for Sanders is that Monken likes him, as evident from their exchange during his inaugural press conference. Monken revealed that he and the Ravens tried to draft him last year before the Browns took him off the board.
Recently, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland media released an interesting report that gave Sanders only a 40% chance of winning the QB1 job. The other 40% went to Deshaun Watson, and the remaining 20% can be anybody, from Dillon Gabriel to a veteran free agent. Watson is expected to play the 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair his Achilles tendon. Monken and his team will evaluate both quarterbacks during the offseason before announcing their choice.
