Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that rookie Shedeur Sanders is set to make his debut for the club in their scheduled preseason friendly against the Carolina Panthers at the Bank of America Stadium. Myles Garrett is looking forward to seeing Sanders in action.
Following the recent joint practice with the Panthers team, Garrett spoke to the media to give his honest opinion on Sanders.
[I am]Looking forward to seeing him in these preseason games and how he manages the offense. I think he looks good, but all the guys look good right now.

The former DPOY praised Sanders for taking his training seriously throughout his time with the Browns.
[Shedeur’s] optimistic, light-hearted… But he [also] works hard. He takes it seriously, his craft, and he’s watching what the others are doing and doing it his own way, in which only he can.

A while back, a video surfaced on X that showed Sanders asking Garrett for a one-on-one session after practice.

Tension crept in among the fans of Sanders after he missed practice due to feeling soreness in his throwing shoulder. He returned to the camp but mostly trained with the second and third stringers on the team.
Sanders eventually found himself stranded at the fourth spot in the unofficial depth chart behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel. Fans wondered if the 23-year-old would ever get the chance to start a game for the first team until Stefanski’s announcement for the Panthers’ friendly.
He’s excited, and he knew he was going to play a good bit in these preseason games. So the competitor in him is very excited.

Stefanski further revealed that new signing Tyler Huntley will back up Sanders in the Panthers game. This will be Huntley’s second stint with the Browns. He spent the latter half of 2024 at Halas Hall.
Shedeur Sanders is embracing the opportunity to start for the Browns
Sanders nearly went through hell earlier in the year. Despite his heroics and numbers in college football, analysts and NFL executives did not view him as a top prospect. He slipped to day three of the draft and remained on the verge of going undrafted.

Stefanski and Berry eventually drafted Sanders in the fifth round. It raised a lot of eyebrows because they had taken Gabriel two rounds earlier.
Sanders slowly gained notoriety amongst his teammates, but the Browns coaches still did not see him ready to take reps with the first and second teams. Shedeur told his HOF father, Deion Sanders, to stay away from the camp because he did not want Prime Time to see him until he had gained the complete trust of the coaches.

One can bet Deion will be in Carolina to watch his son play, and Sanders wants to make the best of this opportunity given to him.
I know I lack experience in this realm and on this level, but one thing I can hang my hat on is that in all pressure situations, you know who I am. “I’m excited. Whenever it is my time to get out there, I’ll be able to be myself.

Sanders played 24 games for the Colorado Buffaloes in college. In his final season of eligibility, he threw for 4134 yards (74.0% completion rate), 37 touchdowns, and 10 picks.
