The Cleveland Browns are not short on money, even after paying Deshaun Watson and Myles Garrett over $40 million each year. Folks at the Browns’ facility invested additional funds in giving the club’s helmets a wardrobe change by collaborating with Dude Wipes.

On Monday, the new shade of the Browns’ helmet made its first appearance on TV in the form of a giant inflatable replica. However, fans will remember the unveiling moment for a different reason.

A camera guy, busy documenting the unveiling, fell into Lake Erie that surrounded the stage. Chomps, the Browns’ mascot, and Dude Wipes’ mascot found the moment amusing. Fortunately for the camera guy, a jet ski rescued him shortly after.

The Browns kept the same shade of orange on their helmet from 1950 to 2023. In 2023, they introduced white helmets to commemorate the best era of the club’s history.

The new color scheme contains black with orange stripes from one end of the helmet to the other. According to reports from Sports Illustrated, the Browns will wear those particular helmets during games against the Green Bay Packers (Sept. 21), the Miami Dolphins (Oct. 19), and the Tennessee Titans (Dec. 7).

The Browns aspire to challenge for the Super Bowl, but players are bound to see the incident at Lake Erie as a bad omen.

Myles Garrett aims for the Super Bowl

The Browns reverted to their old selves in 2024 after playing postseason football the year prior. Quarterback Deshaun Watson lasted a handful of games, while Jameis Winston played 12 games as his replacement. The Browns ended the year with only three wins.

Despite the bad year, star pass rusher Myles Garrett amassed 14.0 sacks and 47 combined tackles. Following a brief standoff, the Haslam brothers agreed to a four-year $160 million extension with the All-Pro DE. The new deal briefly made Garrett the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history before Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase and then Steelers T.J. Watt signed their contracts.

Garrett wants to repay the Browns by winning Super Bowl 60.

I expect to get to the Super Bowl. That’s our expectation every year.

On a personal note, the 29-year-old aims to reclaim the DPOY title from Denver Broncos DB Patrick Surtain II.

I expect to run back to Defensive Player of the Year, so keeping both those things in mind, I have to be the very best player I can be every single day… I have such high expectations for the team because I have such high expectations for myself.

Garrett’s goals are noble, but he’s not the only one who wants to win a Super Bowl. Moreover, his team has yet to sort out the biggest issue—the starting quarterback.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski must narrow down to three quarterbacks from Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders before the final roster cuts. Stefanski’s best bet is the training camp. Flacco appears to be the heavy favorite for now.

Fortunately, Stefanski doesn’t have to deal with Watson. The Browns put the 3x Pro Bowler on the PUP List, as he continues to recover from an injured Achilles tendon.

The Browns start their 2025 NFL campaign by hosting AFC North rivals the Cincinnati Bengals in week one.
