When a wrestler moves from one company to another, fans from both sides closely follow their journey. In recent years, WWE has signed several wrestlers released from AEW. CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, and Penta are recent examples who have excelled since their debut. Now, the latest addition to this list is Rey Fenix, who has just signed a deal with WWE.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, a vignette featuring Fenix aired, hinting that his debut might be sooner than expected. The vignette gave fans a closer look at the high-flying luchador. While itโs confirmed that the 34-year-old will debut on SmackDown, the exact date remains unknown.
His brother, Penta, debuted two months ago on the January 13th episode of Monday Night Raw. He has performed well as a singles competitor, defeating stars like Chad Gable, Pete Dunne, and Ludwig Kaiser while remaining undefeated. On the latest episode of Raw, the luchador had a staredown with Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker, hinting at a future title match.

The Lucha Brothers have found success everywhere they’ve competed, from TNA and AEW to AAA. Theyโve even faced each other several times. While some fans want them to reunite as a tag team, others are in support of them pursuing their singles careers. Either way, their reunion would be a memorable moment.
Penta expressed his opinions about his brother Rey Fenix’s debut in WWE
Many fans were eagerly waiting for the debut of the Lucha Brothers in WWE. However, only the elder brother could come, as Fenix still had some time left in his AEW contract. Now that he is finally in WWE, the veteran luchador expressed how he was really feeling in an interview.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Penta said he was glad his brother was joining WWE. When asked if he preferred fighting with or against Fenix, the former Impact World Champion dodged the question, saying he was focused on himself. However, he admitted that if the opportunity arose, he would gladly team up with his brother.
I love my brother. I love everything about my brother. Both is fine for me. In Mexico, every weekend, we would wrestle against each other. Now, here is different. Now, I’m focused for myself and WrestleMania. I’m focused for everything here. When my brother has an opportunity with me, it’s okay. Now, I’m focused on myself.

It looks like the Mexican wrestler will join the multi-man match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania. On the latest episode of Raw, he expressed his desire to dethrone Bron Breakker and win his first championship in WWE. Only time will tell if he walks out as the new I.C. Champion.
Rey Fenix will not speak about heavily about his fallout with WWE’s rival company AEW
Fenix and Penta were one of the most famous tag teams when they first joined AEW. However, time passed, and the former felt like he wasn’t given much to do, and both of them decided to leave. As the WWE Universe knows, while Penta joined the Stamford-based company, his brother was still stuck in AEW. During his time waiting for his release, the 34-year-old star hinted at “inhumane treatment” with a post on social media but later deleted it.

According to Fightful Select, the former AEW Tag Champion may never address it again. Like his brother, Fenix is not expected to discuss his fallout with the Jacksonville-based company in detail.
Since leaving AEW in 2024, Penta has kept most of his grievances private. The 40-year-old veteran stated that he came to WWE to win everything and is focused on WrestleMania. Fans hope the Lucha Brothers will eventually capture the tag titles, just as they have everywhere else.
