But the one moment that stood out was the WNBA power couple, DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith, going head to head against each other for their respective sides.

Off the court, the two are the sweetest and kindest couples one would come across. But their mindset and approach completely change once they are on the court. Both were involved in a highly competitive game against each other, leaving no hard feelings on Saturday. So much so that Carrington also ended up fouling her girlfriend in the process.

The couple took this matter to their social media(X) handles, having a playful banter in the process. Smith made her opinions clear regarding her girlfriend fouling her, whereas Carrington claimed that she did not foul Smith in the first place.

A DiJonai Carrington fan page claimed on X that the couple went “block for block” during a particular play in the game. To which Smith replied, “**foul for block. 😒”

Carrington quickly chimed back, stating, “I didn’t even foul you. Plsssss,” Once again, Smith responded, but this time with proof, posting the video of the foul on her with the caption, “men lie. woman lie. kids lie .. BUT”

This surely made rounds in and around the basketball community, with many WNBA and NBA fans taking to their social media to react to this. It’s nice to see the couple keeping their relationship aside when facing each other on the court as opponents. Regardless, Smith had the last laugh as her side easily defeated the Wings by 106-80.

Carrington was not letting her girlfriend relax a bit. She was spotted exchanging some words with Smith on the court, adding to their playful banter during the game. The two will surely remember this moment for a long time.

NyLyssa Smith was traded to the Aces earlier this season

The WNBA trade market did spring a few surprises this season, especially for the Las Vegas Aces’ star NyLyssa Smith. For context, Smith was at the Dallas Wings a few months ago, alongside her girlfriend DiJonai Carrington. Little did she know, the Aces came in knocking hard for Smith as they acquired her in a trade deal in exchange for a 2027 first-round draft pick with the Wings this season.

Smith had a difficult season with the Wings after being selected by the Indiana Fever with the second overall choice in the 2022 WNBA Draft. She averaged 6.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in just 19.1 minutes per game after being dealt to Dallas in the offseason, which was her lowest performance to date. Compared to her tenure with the Fever, this represented a significant drop.
