Often hailed as the original head honcho of pro wrestling, Vince McMahon turned 80 years old on Sunday. He threw a big party on the occasion at Gotham Hall in New York. Several WWE names reported to be in attendance included John Cena, Sheamus, R-Truth, The Undertaker, and his wife Michelle McCool, Kane, Sgt. Slaughter, Bruce Prichard, JBL, and Gerald Brisco.
The former WWE CEO’s son, Shane McMahon, was also there, as per PWInsider. However, Vinnie Mac’s daughter Stephanie McMahon and son-in-law Triple H were not there, apparently. There’s no word either on whether the two of them received their invitations or not. While the McMahon-hosted bash might have also featured other high-profile guests from all walks of life, the aforementioned list only gives an account of those from the pro wrestling business.
Every single name noted above has worked for McMahon in some capacity or other. The most prominent of them happens to be John Cena. He told the New York Times back in April that he would continue to love the lawsuit-facing businessman regardless of the circumstances. The Hollywood mogul didn’t downplay anything that McMahon has been alleged to have done.

Cena was also aware of the fact that the fans wouldn’t support this notion regarding the former owner of WWE. The 48-year-old wrestler-turned-actor experienced his wrestling heyday under McMahon’s regime. Moreover, Cena has said on record that ‘The Genetic Jackhammer’ has been akin to a father figure for him. That being said, Cena marking his presence for McMahon turning 80 shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Bully Ray suggests Vince McMahon’s presence for John Cena’s last match
It’s now in the public domain that John Cena will officially hang up his wrestling boots on December 13. A press note by NBC Sports confirmed that the Peacemaker star’s last WWE match will take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event, streaming live on Peacock. While there’s no lead on Cena’s potential opponent that night, Bully Ray has suggested that Vince McMahon‘s involvement would mean a lot.

One-half of the Dudley Boyz addressed it on the Busted Open Radio podcast by saying that the fans would like or embrace McMahon coming out to give Cena an emotional send-off. The ECW legend underscored how Cena was the biggest star in WWE with McMahon in charge of things. ‘The Franchise Player’ would go on to become arguably the most successful babyface this industry has ever seen.
Bully Ray believes fans would like to see Vince McMahon make an appearance for John Cena's WWE retirement

All of that happened under McMahon’s watch. The latter’s daughter is also the one to be credited with saving Cena’s WWE career. If it wasn’t for her eavesdropping on his freestyling acumen at the back of a tour bus in the early 2000s, Cena would’ve ended up on the chopping block and gotten released. She went to her father and pitched him to debut that version of Cena on television that led to the birth of Dr. of Thuganomics.
What was Vince McMahon’s latest on-camera appearance?
Amid an ongoing federal probe into allegations of s*x trafficking and physical abuse brought forth by Janel Grant, Vince McMahon recently made it to the public eye in a rare occurrence. The XFL founder was interviewed by TMZ for its Hulk Hogan-centric documentary. It was intended to honor the indelible mark ‘Hulkster’ left on the pro wrestling industry.

McMahon made some controversial statements wherein he outright deemed that Hogan wasn’t a racist. The former WWE chairman also expressed anguish at the company’s treatment of the deceased wrestler from the Netflix premiere of Raw. Back then, Hogan got booed by the Los Angeles crowd, and that upset McMahon.
The latter claimed he would’ve set things up differently than how they actually panned out. Speaking of McMahon, his shabby-looking physical features during the interview got called out by Jim Ross, where the legendary wrestling commentator said that his ex-boss looked horrible, tired, and withdrawn.
