Naomi Osaka shared on social media that she has ended her relationship with rapper Cordae, who is also the father of their daughter, Shai. The couple started dating in 2019, the same year Cordae released his debut album, The Lost Boy.

Cordae often supported Osaka at her matches and was seen celebrating her 2020 US Open win with her team. Their relationship was also featured in Osaka’s Netflix series, which aired in 2021. In 2023, Osaka and Cordae welcomed their daughter Shai after announcing their pregnancy the year before. The birth marked a joyful moment in their lives, though they have now decided to part ways.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship. No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.

Naomi Osaka gets huge rise in the WTA rankings

Naomi Osaka had a strong showing at the ASB Classic in Auckland, reaching the final before retiring due to injury. Despite the setback, she jumped seven spots to No. 50 in the WTA Rankings, her best position since returning from maternity leave. Clara Tauson, who won the ASB Classic title, climbed nine places to reach No. 41.

Mirra Andreeva also made gains, rising to a career-high No. 15 after her semi-final run at the Brisbane International. Jelena Ostapenko, on the other hand, dropped two spots. The top 10 rankings remained unchanged, but there was plenty of movement just outside this elite group.

At the top, Aryna Sabalenka extended her dominance in the rankings. She began her 12th consecutive week as world No. 1, tying Kim Clijsters with a total of 20 weeks in the top spot. Sabalenka is guaranteed to remain No. 1 for at least two more weeks and will soon surpass Tracy Austin and Maria Sharapova, each with 21 weeks at No. 1.

Sabalenka’s lead over Iga Swiatek grew after she won the Brisbane International, her 18th career title. Swiatek, who lost in the United Cup final, is now 1,536 points behind. However, the Australian Open could shake things up. Sabalenka has 2,000 points to defend, while Swiatek will drop only 130, keeping the race for No. 1 tight.
