“She has only reached 70% potential” – Steve Flink says Naomi Osaka can win ‘at least 12 Grand Slams’
Naomi Osaka
American Tennis writer Steve Flink believes that Naomi Osaka can win at least twelve Grand Slams. He feels that Naomi Osaka has the game to win Grand Slams on clay and grass too.
Flink thinks Osaka’s great attribute is her serve and her power on both flanks. Naomi Osaka has a fantastic first serve, and also a great second serve which has spin and bounce, he said. Also, he seems to feel Osaka has great power on both her backhand and forehand. Added to that is her pace on court, and her belief in her game, which makes her a formidable opponent.
Speaking on other American players, he believes Jennifer Brady can finish with two or three Grand Slams. Flink was especially impressed with her mentality. Speaking of Serena Williams, Flink thinks that Serena is being extra hard on herself, and instead should pay more compliments to Osaka who beat her fair and square.
Naomi Osaka needs to improve her defense says Steve Flink
Steve Flink thinks that Osaka lacks a defensive game. In fact, he said that she doesn’t even have the defensive shots like slice etc. So on days when her serve isn’t working too well or she is fatigued, she will have a problem. Once she improves her defensive game, she can aim to win more slams on surfaces other than Hard Courts.
Osaka has in the last two to three years won four grand slams already. She has two US Open titles and two Australian Open titles. Her last Australian Open title came this year in Australia, where she beat Jennifer Brady 6-4 6-3 to win her second Australian open Grand Slam. Her next goal would be to win a title preferably on grass or clay.
