US Open Champion Naomi Osaka pulls out of French Open 2020

Naomi Osaka, who aced the US Open 2020 crown with a victory over Victoria Azarenka in New York, withdraws from Roland Garros due to her carping hamstring injury.
The 22 year old has sustained the injury first during the Western and Southern Open earlier this year. It prompted to her to later withdraw from the championship. Post that she had her troubling left hamstring strapped throughout the US Open tournament.

Naomi Osaka announced to skip the clay-court in a statement shared on social media, explaining her condition.
“Unfortunately I won’t be able to play the French Open this year,” Osaka said in the statement. “My hamstring is still sore so I won’t have enough time to prepare for the clay. These two tournaments came too close together for me this time. I wish the organizers and players all the best.”
The Japanese also concluded her tweet with some good news, “Miss you guys but you’ll see me sooner than later,” she said.
The Australian Open 2019 winner does not have good record on clay. She has never been able cruise past the third round in all her past three career appearances in the French Open. last year, she lost 4-6, 2-6 Katerina Siniakova in the third round.
Ash Barty pulled out earlier
Further, reigning champion Ashley Barty too pulled out of the years last majors earlier this month in the face of health concerns due to the COVID-19.
The French Open 2020 which had been delayed from its original slot of May-June is scheduled to start from 27 September. For the first time the major tournaments have been scheduled so close because of the pandemic.
