Naomi Osaka is a multi millionaire, and the highest paid female athlete in the world. We all know that, but what a lot of people don’t know is that she is one of the owners of a National Women’s Soccer League team. The team’s name is the North Carolina Courage. North Carolina Courage is one of the ten teams in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Naomi Osaka at the time of making the purchase had said that she took the decision to do this because she wanted to promote women’s sport. She also said that this investment makes a lot of business sense as the National Women’s soccer league and women’s sport will grow very fast in the years to come.

Osaka also believes that she is grateful to be  a part of Tennis which offers parity in pay between men and women, But a lot of other sports including soccer doesn’t do that. So another reason for her to own a Women’s club was to make sure that young girls don’t believe that they don’t deserve equal pay to men.

Osaka’s advice to young women who are emerging in new fields

Naomi Osaka

Osaka believes that it’s the hardest when you are the first one to do something.. The toughest when you have to set the precedent. There will be haters, people who doubt you, but you have to keep your head down and keep working. She advises young girls to block haters out.

Osaka also goes on to talk about her mentor, Kobe Bryant. She says that Kobe used to tell her about the lioness, and when she was getting ready to hunt. There were flies around, many animals, lots of distraction, but the lioness would focus only on her prey. Osaka finishes by saying that the young women should focus like the lioness, set their goal and never doubt themselves.
