The NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma was one of the most dramatic road course races of the recent times with multiple incidents through out the day. At the end Hendrick Motorsports bagged yet another win with, 2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson in the No:5 Chevy Camaro while Michael McDowell secured a P2 for FRM.

The race featured 38 drivers, with Kaulig Racing’s Xfinity Series driver AJ Allmendinger and Supercars Series driver Cam Waters being the part-time entries. Dinger had a string car as he most often does in road course races and had a strong race, but wasn’t able to finish better than P6, as his tiers didn’t have enough at the end to give him a better finish.

With 22 laps left in the race, the Chevy veteran had a heated team radio rant, because of Kyle Larson. The HMS driver hit the bumper Dinger multiple times during the race and he was furious about it as according to him the clashes killed bis tiers.

AJ Allmendinger claims he is happy with the result

The Kaulig driver while talking about the how the race went for him pointed out that his crew and crew chief did a great job during the adversities. He pointed out that he is happy with the results despite the fact that he could’ve scored a top-5.

We had a really fast Cirkul Chevy. (Crew chief) Travis (Mack) did a great job with strategy with everything that happened adversity wise. I thought overall we maximized our day. If everything fell right, we could have (had) a top-five finish, but we’re happy with the result.
AJ Allmendinger said.

The 2024 season so far hasn’t been the best for AJ Allmendinger as he hasn’t yet secured a win in the Xfinity Series that could secure him a spot in the playoffs. He also hasn’t been able to contend for wins in the Cup series as well. Allmendinger will be hoping to use the good run he had at Sonoma and build a positive momentum from it.
