Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman has been going through a rough patch desperate for win since he broke his back the 2023 season due to a sprint car racing accident. He has been waiting to end his winless streak for a long-time and stepping up when some race fans started calling for his exit from HMS makes it a special moment for him.

But not everyone was happy with the impressive win from Alex Bowman. 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace was furious at the No:48 HMS driver over an incident in stage-2 that runed his race. Bowman made contact with the No:23 Toyota in the corner and ruined the race for the TRD driver who had a car fast enough get him at least a top-10 finish.

He was quick to show his frustration by door slamming him during the cool-down lap while Bowman was celebrating the victory. The Chevy driver admitted his mistake in the post-race interview as he was embarrassed for ruining the race for Bubba Wallace and his team. He apologized to them for the incident.

First off, like we talked earlier, I have to apologize again to the 23 guys. Just messed up, and trying to get my windshield wiper on, missed a corner and ruined their day. So, I hate that I’m embarrassed about it.

Further talking about his race, Bowman asserted that having the back injury was really disappointing for him and admitted that he started second guessing if he ever gets a chance to race again. He was also disappointed as he never got to actually celebrate his win in 2022.Now after winning Chicago he is ready to party hard and celebrate it.

Man, I broke my back. I had a brain injury, and we’ve kinda sucked ever since. I didn’t, you start to second guess if you’re going to get a chance to win a race again. Last one we won we didn’t really get to celebrate… We’re going to drink so much damn bourbon tonight. It’s going to be a bad deal. I’m probably going to wake up naked on the bathroom floor again, but that’s just part of this deal sometimes.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver would be hoping to use this win as the momentum builder he needs to become a championship contender. It would be interesting to see how he will perform after the redemption in the remaining races.
